Great little product for just getting started

For Butterfly STM32L433 Development Board

This is a great product for getting started using an Arduino board. The pin outs are well documented so there is no issue getting it up and running. The onboard LED's are a nice touch and let you know that it is working.

Once you add the board manager to the Arduino IDE it's simple matter to download the board configuration and interface. After that just start running your code. I used it with a Sparkfun MPU9250 board and was able to hook it up and run the code unmodified.

SD card mount option

For Micro SD Card Reader for Butterfly

I purchased this board option as a way to log data that was happening in my application. While it is nice to just print the information to the screen this can lead to timing issues as well as needing a cable connected to the application.

With an SD card attached you can log data very quickly without effecting the application to much.

The problem with this board is how it attaches to the butterfly board. If you attached it to the top side it blocks the pin names and LED's as well as some other pins. If you mount it to the bottom side it makes it hard to get the SD card in and out of the socket.

For me having the unit face outward from the Butterfly would be better or still yet have it built onto the board. Nothing attaches to the end of the board and the board is small enough. Then I can easily remove the SD card after testing my application and review the data without having to remove the unit from the circuit.

I was told that you can make the SD card look like a USB drive through the Butterfly but I have not been able to make that work.

Thanks for the thorough review Mike. Yes, there are no perfect solutions. I use other add-ons as well as the SD card and if I had designed it to face the board end as you suggest it could be blocked by those add-ons using the 3V3 and GND pins at the board edge. I like to mount the SD card reader on the board bottom and leave enough gap that I can pull the card out and put it in using tweezers. Not elegant but it works and is out of the way.

As far as the mass storage device, you have to choose USB Type: serial+Mass Storage and DOSFS: SDCARD(SPI) in order for the SD card to appear as a disk drive on your laptop. Arduino Compatible Development Board - LadyBug - STM32L432

For Ladybug STM32L432 Development Board

All in all I am absolutely satisfied with this little morsel. I had a bit of trouble on my windows 10 machine at first, but it ended up being windows assigning the wrong drivers to this device and was easily fixed. Kris helped me with every question every step of the way and has since created additional documentation. This is in the early stages, but is going to be a great addition to any tinkerers toolbox for sure! I am proud to have been one of the few to have funded the Kickstarter and to have been able to purchase the device. I have been playing with this as well as the DragonFly, ESP32, and ButterFly for a few weeks now and have not found a limitation yet. Some libraries may not be compatible yet, but that in my opinion is a call to action for the community. If anyone is interested I will start a section on my forums at https://ghostlyhaks.com /forum to support and help build on this great project that was graciously left open source by all who was involved in this.

LadyBug STM32L432 Development Board

For Ladybug STM32L432 Development Board

First Look: Got a pair of these hand built (somehow) by Kris - no sign of problems - they work very well with the Arduino IDE doing what I can without soldering them so far. Impressively small and low power. Made use of the User Button easily! Reliable for uploads - and the code does what you tell it to. Now I have three add on boards to solder up for 9DOF/Mic/EEPROM. At this early stage more DOCS are on the way - but Kris is great at communication so both get 5 stars. 5 stars on the Product, and also Shipping as it was in my mailbox before I expected it to even ship.

We are scrambling to stock the shelves and complete the Arduino core, design new add-on boards, answer customer questions, and generally make these development boards as useful as they can be.

I'm glad your experiences so far have been positive. Just remember that the next time something doesn't work as expected!
