Great product - Works a treat

Works better than the official Atari version I have which seemed to have glitches when the video accesses DRAM for the display list (dried out capacitors maybe) with my PAL 400.

Documentation could be a little bit better comparing it to the original Atari upgrade docs (pdf available from Atari Mania) shame the additional wires are not the same as the Atari version (they're swapped) but that's serious nitpicking.

Great product, well put together

The kit was very easy to assemble with the instructions provided; a small amount of soldering was required and all of the necessary parts were included. The product is well put together and worked straight away, exactly what I was hoping for.

It brought my old Commodore PET back to life.

I purchased my Commodore PET in 1978. For the past several years, it has not been used. When I plugged it in a month ago, it booted up but couldn't run any programs without an OUT OF MEMORY error. An expert in a user's group suggested the ROM/RAM replacement board from Tynemouth Software, so I gave it a try.

The part arrived in a timely manner, securely packaged, and included a helpful instruction sheet. The pictures on the website were also very informative.

Installation was not difficult, and it worked perfectly from the very first time. The startup screen now says 31743 BYTES FREE, which is more than four times the original amount of memory! I was able to load and run several of my old favorite programs (although some of the cassette tapes have degraded over the years). I believe that the ROM/RAM replacement board literally brought my old Commodore PET back to life.

I am extremely satisfied with this product and give it my wholehearted recommendation.

The perfect Atari ST revival kit

Used it on a dead Atari 520STF, it has been directly recognized as a standard keyboards with all the shortcuts a modern keyboard is able to do. There even is no or very few input lags that allows to play video games on it. I have been trying for five years to find a solution to revive my dead 520STF, well here it is.

For Deluxe Composite Video Mod

If you have an old Atari 2600 hidden in the loft or out in the garage, bring it out and grab one of Tyenmouth Software's Deluxe composite mods, you wont believe the clarity on the picture not going through RF but composite, it gives the old Atari a new lease on life.

You'll need intermediate soldering skills as there are components that need to be removed but its a perfect result! My Atari 2600 Jr is a rev F board so there were some differences from the instructions but easy to trace and extra parts removed, but did I mention that result!

Honestly this is the best and inexpensive way and very professionally put together mod, a huge thanks to the fine folks at TS, Highly recommended!!!!

Works perfectly

Just a few things:

1) Make a large bracket which can screw into the holes of the case as well as the board. Plugging in a joystick is harrowing because the double sided tape isn't strong enough to hold against the lateral force
2) Make an IO shield
3) Make a POWER switch for it.

An excellent improvement over the original

For Keyboard overlays for TS1000/ZX80/ZX81

The only negative was with the corners which needed to be trimmed otherwise, it was probably better than the original on my TS1000.

Works really well

For 9 way D USB joystick adapter

I use this adapter to control two DB9 Competition Pro joysticks recently manufactured that I connect to an Armiga (dedicated emulator based on Android/FS-UAE). Everything works well, no glitches to report. Thanks for this solution !

This board enabled me to troubleshoot a couple of Commodore CBM/PET computers in a matter of minutes.
Without it I would probably have spent days or weeks to locate the problem.

Great piece of kit

For USB conversion kit for Amiga 500 keyboard

An easy way to use an Amiga keyboard for projects, the 500 version has the bonus of having joystick ports. My only gripe even though small is the joystick ports do not center correctly on the case joystick port holes.

Sorry about that. The joystick ports appear to line up correctly on the cases I have tried. Which way is it out of alignment on your case? Too close, too far apart or too high/low?

I’m using this product with a U.K. Amiga 1200 keyboard, Raspberry Pi 3 and Amibian running Amiberry. Select Generic USB U.K. layout keyboard in Raspi-Config in Amibian, and U.K. layout under Workbench 3.9 and it is perfect. Great product, excellent service and speedy delivery to the Mississippi Gulf Coast!

I decided to wait until I finished my Project before writing my review and all I have is praise for this product.
A very professionally made unit and comes with everything you need including cable and plastic mounts. The keyboard is flawless and F12 has even been taken into consideration for Winuae using the \ on the Keypad to emulate F12, The Joystick ports work out of the box with Winuae giving you the feel of a real Amiga when Gaming..... For me its flawless I now have an Amiga / Windows Deskop PC ( Something I have always wanted )that will play Amiga games including AGA and be an everyday work horse .. I will be ordering more as it seems the whole family now want one. I posted a few pics to show you what I used it for..

For Amiga 600 / 1200 USB keyboard conversion kit

Right now its and Amiga 1200 USB keyboard until I can find a Motherboard small enough but because of the way it fits I get the full base to play with. I Didn't actually get any documentation but wasn't to difficult to work out so I haven't rated that and I haven't needed to contact either.
All worked as expected. Some may say expensive but very high quality and where else would you get one. Well worth every penny in my opinion.
Ordered the Amiga 500 version and am eagerly awaiting to finish the project .. Even a Keyrah cant do an Amiga 500 :)

Shipping took over 10 days to reach France

Good product and does what it says on the box.

However it took over 10 days to reach France compared to other Tindie products which take on average take only 3 - 4 days from the UK but was well packaged and the included printed documentation is excellent so was worth the wait.

ZX81 replacement membrane keyboard overlay.

The ZX81 membrane keyboard overlay was very simple and easy to install as a replacement for the original ZX81 item.

When tested it felt exactly like the original and all the keys functioned as they should.

The adhesive used was positive but not so extreme as to not allow fettling to insure a correctly aligned keyboard,

Yes, I'd buy another one should I need to repair one of my other ZX81 computers.

Great CPU card

This is a great CPU card. I received this card with all parts supplied and a very detailed assembly description.
It has been working flawless in rc2014. It is a good idea combining the cpu and clock module, saving 1 slot.

Flawless

Works as adevtised, and it's quite a unique piece of engineering that I could not find elsewhere. Vendor has been really kind and responsive, and shipping was not instant but fast enough.

As for the USB conversion kit, it comes complete with adhesive feet and it's own cable and you can order it to your specification. So there you go. Very glad with my purchase.

Designed to Actually Fit!

For Amiga 600 / 1200 USB keyboard conversion kit

I had purchased the Keyrah but it died in just a few days and I'm convinced it's because the ribbon had to crimp and turn in order to get over to the joystick ports (I placed it where it should go over on the right side of the A600). So I took a chance on this product mainly because it fits the ribbon without any crimping. Works great! Adheres to the back of the keyboard perfectly and it just works! It is more expensive but it seems like a much better product (not to harp on the keyrah guys... that thing is kinda nice too but it's really made for a C64).

Great product.

I haven't had a chance to assemble the clone as yet, but that really won't effect the review.

Very impressed with the turn around time, ordered in the morning and was dispatched the same day, great service from a smaller supplier. Arrived a couple of days later, very well packaged in the a small box with plenty of bubble wrap and anti-static bags.

The board looks great and of high quality as do all the components.

Really looking forward to putting it all together.

Upgrade for RC2014 CPU

Using this module for the heart of the RC2014 system allows you to save a slot by removing the small standard clock module, and fixes a number of other issues from the OEM CPU board.

It provides a clean reset signal. I changed the 1MOhm timing resistor (which provides a 1.1 second delay after pushing the reset button) for a 470kOhm resistor and 1/2 second delay. Who has time to wait a whole second these days?

All components required are provided. But no sockets for the smaller components.
If you don't trust your soldering, then perhaps get some sockets separately. But really there's no issue soldering them directly.

Also, tying the WAIT, NMI, and other important lines high (with 10kOhm resistors) is good practice, and is something the original CPU board should have done, were it originally designed as a "product" rather than as a a retro-challenge entry.

A modern ZX80 clone, for a fair price

I like the fact that it is a ZX80 that is slightly updated in the right places: it fits in a ZX81 case, uses the ZX81 expansion bus, has upgraded composite video output, switchable ZX80/81 ROM and 16k RAM. Makes it all easy to use and still close to the original in the ways that matter to me.
The postal services in UK and Sweden took their time delivering but that can't be helped, and the packaging was good.

The board that speaks for itself.

This is another great product by Tynemouth Software for the RC2014.
delivery was really fast and well packaged in an a5 box. all components was in an ESD bag and there is a panphlet which compliments the build nicely. Tynemouth Software not only shows you how to build the CPU and Clock Module, he explains how it works too with the schematic diagrams takes you on a tour of the board. Great for novices branching out into the build yourself a retro computer.

the board has bright silkscreen and component placement instructions are on the board so you can`t go wrong.
i built the board in 15 minutes and plugged into my RC2014 and it worked first time.
If you do run into difficulty Dave Curran at Tynemouth Software is very approachable and will soon have you up and running in no time.

overall i think this board compliments the RC2014 and helps free up space on the backplane for future upgrades.
Tynemouth Software is renoun for producing quality products like the minstrel and this CPU Clock and Reset board for the RC2014.
I`d give it a 10/10 anytime.

Great product, best communication, fast shipping.

For Minstrel ZX80 Clone in ZX81 case (DISCONTINUED)

Replacement board works as expected and is very helpful for troubleshooting and running the old PET/CBM machines. My PET 2001 had a faulty 6502 and some no longer working 6550s. Hard to diagnose for a beginner, but no longer a problem thanks to this board.

High quality nostalgia.

I'd wanted one of these for the longest time. So glad I finally got around to it. From start to finish, zero problems, which is always good when you're continents away from a vendor. The build pushed my beginner/ intermediate soldering skills, but it was more rewarding for that, and for what it's worth I suspect that the quality of the board contributed to my success. I had originally intended to source a ZX81 case but, having completed it, I think it's too pretty hide it away -- definitely deserves to be shown off. Not that you'll need a whole lot of support, but communication was easy. Definitely recommended.

New design vintage computer kit.

I've always wanted a ZX80 kit, this is the perfect substitute.
I had an old stock of Z80 and others chips, so I just ordered only a PCB.
I soldered parts, turned on the power, I got horizontal dashes on the screen instead of character. The total current was 280mA, the voltage on the Z80 pin-11 was 4.75V.
I added a wire between 7805 +5V and Z80 pin-11, and I got the appropriate characters on the screen.
This kit works perfectly.

Brand new vintage computer kit.

What a great little kit! As someone that has always wanted a ZX80 rather than the emulated version but not willing to pay £300 odd pound for an original but possibly crumbly version, this is a perfect substitute. I paid for a pre-built version that was very well made. Excellent communications from the seller and a very stable piece of equipment. This is the perfect project for the vinatge computer collector / hacker. I've added a KDLX keyboard to mine and built a nice perspex case to house the much improved, tidied motherboard.
