This circuit board is a replacement for the Commodore Vic 20 shortboard. I purchased the board to replace a Vic 20 board that I had a capacitor rupture on, and the board was not salvageable. I have started populating the board with components and sockets and expect to have it complete in the next week. This is a great purchase for anyone refurbishing an old Vic 20.

Brilliant!! love it

For Acorn BBC Model B Issue 7 PCB Replica

Well I was so excited that Bob had done this, I have always wanted to have a go a building a computer from scratch and the BBC B will always be my favourite. Well this week I finished it and it worked perfectly.

There are a few tips though worth mentioning. Ideally you need a donor computer. Some ICs you just cant get such as the video ULA, also its almost impossible to obtain the correct relay and some of the DIN sockets. Also if you go for IDC Box connectors with clips make sure they are the smaller clips else it won't fit in the case (I had to remove some off mine, and then used non clipping idc for the rest. With the ULA there s a small mod you have to do if its the VC2023. also if you have a donor machine then there is a god chance that all the jumpers will be in the right position and you can copy that as a starter! Regarding the BBC Model B Issue 7 Replica Board. There is nothing I can say that would be complimentary enough. The board is of a high quality and is appears in every way to be an exact match to the donor boards I have. For years I have harbored plans for a replica or reproduction of the Venerable Beeb and now here is the perfect enabler. Over the years I have accumulated a number of second hand BBC's all have exhibited one issue or another at various intervals. Now I have an opportunity to assemble one from the ground up - could never have hoped to do so before this replica BBC. Thank's a mill.

What a wonderful avocation

For "SixtyClone" Commodore 64 Replica PCBs

I received my sixty clone (with resistors & electrolytics) a month or two ago and using the BOM sent away for many of the parts from various sources. I've started more recently to assemble this, a "winter project" and it has been very enjoyable. taking my time, being very slow and deliberate. Having few non functional C64 motherboards (various types) to draw from for more difficult to obtain parts will be most helpful. As I go along, I look at improvements like Jiffy Dos and the upcoming VICII FPGA (https://accentual.com/vicii-kawari/) which I'm very hopeful of. PAL or NTSC? How about both and more? Build your own computer from scratch and make it very cool...

For "Vicky Twenty" Commodore VIC-20 PCB Replica

Received the board 1 week after ordering, Nicely package in a stiff cardboard wrapping. Coupled with the VIC20 parts kit from the Run-Stop Restore (Retro 8-bit Shop), everything is there to build up the board. Most importantly the sockets. switches and ferrite devices. I opted to go for modern CMOS 6502 and 6522 from Western Design Centre, and needed to (1) add a 1k SIL resistor pack to 6522 Port A for the keyboard scan to work properly. (2) connect pin BE of the 6502 to 5V. The board is now up and running. So maybe the designer of this board could take care of items (1) and (2) for future board spins.

My board arrived in no time and this project has been such a joy. The board is beautiful (in my case the blue/gold 250466) and thoroughly enjoyed building the computer using as many new parts as possible. I recommend the arananet part locator: https://arananet.net/c64pl/

Mine fired up first time, I'm proud to say, although I did have some intermittent issues due to (it seems) a slightly faulty processor. After switching that I've been using my sixtyclone without issue. You still have to use some original chips, although I hope in time that modern replacements for the VicII, 6510 and CIAs will become available. Then again maybe a real 6510 and VicII are what makes a C64 a real C64, I don't know.

There was a trace I needed to cut with the revision of the board that I have, which is a shame but not really a problem. I also found that the fastening holes didn't quite line up with the screw holes in my PixelWizard case, I had to elongate a couple of the holes in the pcb a little. Again, not really a problem. I also had to file down the edges of the cartridge port, as some of the cartridges I have didn't fit. That was easy and you can't tell that's been done.

My thanks and admiration for the job that bob has done. Really proud to own this and look forward to the Vic-20 one! (hint)
