Excellent product

For 4" NanoVNA V2 Plus4

Did power up when charged 18650 installed, I needed to replace DW01 battery protection chip, everything is good now.
Worked excellent via usb otherwise. Happy to own this instrument.

Pretty decent device, great quality for the cost

For 4" NanoVNA V2 Plus4

Obviously this VNA isn't like a $12000 Keysight or a $22000 Rohde & Schwarz.
But at $130 it is better than 1/100th of one of the big brands.

It is fast enough and accurate enough to do very good antenna tuning as well as basic signal path analysis. If you're a high-end professional like myself you'll end up buying or leasing something of the big companies at some point, but even with one of the fancy devices in my lab, I opted to buy two of these. Why? Because they allow me to do an on-site check of prototype installations without having to lug the expensive stuff around to places where it isn't insured.

And I wouldn't do that if I hadn't proven that its capabilities were valuable and reliable enough.

On performance for price I'd give this a 10/10. I do think the interface could do with a reliable rotary knob, in case you want to move the cursor a bit quicker to an exact point, but it can be done with the touch screen with some practise even with just your nail. (I forgot the pen on the first official use, of course.)

I didn't buy with battery, as the DHL shipping option didn't come up when I was ordering, so I haven't evaluated the charging or battery performance, I just run them off the laptop I always bring with me.

The seller is clear and pretty quick to respond to questions in my experience and shipping was handled within a few days using reliable world-wide carrier (by my own choice).

Really good product! I can only recommend!

For 4" NanoVNA V2 Plus4

The Nano VNA V2 Plus4 is definitely worth for its price. Really. It is much more responsive than any of its smaller "brothers", I really appriciate a faster measurement time and also a better dynamic range - it is good for any kind of filter tuning (bending air core coils, etc.)!

However, I have some recommendation for you.

It would be GREAT if you enable the miniSD card slot located under the TFT panel for capturing s1p and s2p files...or at least for the screenshots. This device was tested by several HAM radio enthusiasts and they mostly complained to this particular thing.

Another one :-) Would it be possible to add a possibility to add more markers to the screen? To see the DELTA or add an automatic measurement of a -3dB bandwidth?

This little gem is amazing! It does many things like its 100 times expensive brothers with astonishing accuracy! Just installed the battery and performed the SOL calibration and I am ready to go. Expecting some firmware mods to enable more options but all measurements can be done now! My $130 were really well invested!

Excellent instrument for DIY antenna makers

For NanoVNA V2 Plus4

My interest in the NanoVNA came from needing to analyze antennas for radio control models. In the couple of weeks I've been using it, it's proved to be a very useful tool.

Of particular value to me is the ability to connect the NanoVNA to a PC and save screenshots, an output file of an analysis, and calibration settings. Connecting the NanoVNA to my Mac was straightforward. Likewise, I had no trouble with either the NanoVNA QT software or the NanoVNA Saver software. The latter is more more powerful. It quickly became my preferred way to use the instrument.

I don't have access to lab quality equipment to confirm the accuracy of the NanoVNA. However, there's at least one online review that does so -- with favourable results. I can say that the readings from my unit are consistent with those from a handheld PS100 antenna analyzer.

If you don't have a calibration set, be sure to include one in your order. It's an essential accessory. Likewise with the test leads. I ordered the plastic enclosure, too, and was glad I did. It provides some protection for the unit. Assembly of the case was straightforward. However, I did need to take a needle file to a couple of the plastic tabs to allow them to fit in their mating slots. It was a trivial job that took just moments.

The shipping time to my location was perfectly acceptable. I ordered on Nov. 14. The package was delivered to my door by courier on Dec. 4. There were no difficulties with customs. I've found that orders from online retailers in the US can cost more and take longer to arrive.

I had no need to contact the seller. Tindie's order confirmation email arrived promptly and contained all the information I needed to feel confident in the process (my first order from Tindie).

In summary, I'm very happy with my NanoVNA purchase. In fact, I've already recommended it to others.

What was once pure guesswork is now visible !

For NanoVNA V2 Plus4

I watched Speiss on YouTube showing his old 1GHz VNA which I thought was alright but not really tremendously useful until you can get to WiFi at 2.4GHz. So now that these newer versions go up to 3GHz I knew I had to get one. (Speiss has since upgraded to this 3GHz one and done some good videos on it. So in lieu of any missing documentation, there are many videos of people telling you how to use it).

Shipping was quicker than expected and it comes in a small box. I opted for the case and calibration kit. Now that I have it I can say that the case is very useful and I would recommend getting it. The calibration is utterly essential to having it work at all. Unless you already have a calibration kit do not skip buying it.

Building the case is fiddly but doable. You have to be careful about the orientations of all of the parts but once done its pretty neat and fits around it well. I think it protects it quite a lot and makes it easier to handle - but its not absolutely essential.

The cables that fit to it are great and of good quality and the calibration kit works well. You need to supply your own USB C lead so make sure you have one ready.

The UI on it is perfectly reasonable but it takes a bit of reading and watching YouTube vids to get the hang of exactly what it needs or is showing. But once you get to grips with it then its a great little device. By no means an advanced pro device, but lets face it, what was once many thousands of bucks is in your hand for a few tens. You can finally see a Smith chart for your antenna and get SWR readings with a frequency sweep at WiFi frequencies. It works, it works well, and its amazing. This is a must have bit of kit for any Ham Radio enthusiast or someone working with radio modules / antennas. You may also need to buy in a set of various SMA male / female and RP style adapters to hook up the different WiFi antennas to the leads. Just be aware not to try to connect an SMA to an RP-SMA connector such that its actually open circuit - because there appears to be no standard.

Prevagen substitute for my brain

Just unboxed my V2Plus4. Ratings reflect the product and shipper, not the USPS. I ordered it 11/21/20, and received it 12/17/20. 2 days order processing, 3 days China to JFK, 6 days to clear customs (holiday weekend), and 15 days for USPS NY to NC.
Yes, it requires you to put the battery in, then plug the USB cable in, b4 it will run on battery.
Yes, the Dummy load measures exactly 50.93 ohms, the exact same as others.
Yes, there is no documentation included, but it is only a click away and pretty decent. And I have been following the community for months now.
Yes, the Dummy operator has no clue, but at 78 I need all the brain exercise I can get. I want to tune some antennas.
Initial test with an RF demo kit indicates the microscopic U.FL connectors on the demo board are going to be a problem. I won't be moving them around too often. That load is 49.77 Ω. I have not calibrated the Nano yet or tried any serious measurements, but the bandpass filter looked interesting. Glad I got the 4 for these old eyes. There are 2 blue and 3 or 4 red LEDs inside. I don't know what they are for but with the metal case, they are not visible anyway. The short & open calibrators have no identifiable marks so you must look down the barrel to see the pin or no pin. I ran a black and red Sharpie around the top grooves which helps. Now to remember which is which, and on with my exercises.
It will be a while till I can say how well it works, but if you don't hear from me again it is going very well.

Surprisingly smart

For NanoVNA V2 Plus4

I'm using this device for measuring UHF and VHF filters. Tried also some antenna measurements. I am relatively new to rf electronics, but this little, cheap and handy meter is very good member at my workbench now. The only problem I have got, it does not communicate with PC. It worked just one time. Now the device appears in the list of connected devices,but still don't work..I am trying to find the problem, maybe Bad usb cable. Driver installed. Powering it from Li-Ion battery 1600mAh from old smartphone.. Will post again as soon i resolve the issue..However-very good buy!

Nice NanoVNA & Quick Delivery

For 4" NanoVNA V2 Plus4

Very nice NanoVNA with a nice metal case. I installed a 18650 LiOn battery and everything seems to work OK. The cables seem good, however in the SMA cal kit provided the 50 ohm SMA load measured 50.931 ohms using a new Keysight 34465A 6 1/2 digit DVM (need to request a better SMA load). Shipping was quick, much quicker than the things we get from AliExpress!

Documentation is on-line, as is communication, so not really able to properly rate either.

Overall very happy with my first purchase from Tindie!!

Impressive

For 4" NanoVNA V2 Plus4

This is my first VNA of any kind, so I'm unable to give any comparisons to others, but I've been impressed in the perfomance so far. Enclosure appearance is very minimalist, it would've been nice to have had at least some basic labelling, but I can always add that myself I guess.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone experimenting with any RF projects, the extended frequency and dynamic range is particularly welcome.

This is a great little unit for the HAM. Firmware seems stable. Accuracy is good. Touch screen works well. The menu system is straight forward and easy to understand. Supporting information on the official website is good. Overall this device is an impressive piece of kit for S11 and S21 measurements for the price.

Looks Great But Has Flaws

Unit looks like advertised and works with a 5V USB plug, but the battery connection does not work (it will not power up on battery power). Very frustrated with the unit as I wanted to use it without a cord for power.

No documentation with the unit, so you will need to find how to use it on the NET.

Buyer beware!

Hi, you need to plug in USB at least once after connecting the battery to activate the battery management IC.

Nice VNA for a nice price

For NanoVNA V2 Plus4

So far this nanoVNA_v2 has been everything described. Its kit-form case was fun to assemble but fits well when done. Tindie also had a 1000mAh battery with the correct connector that fits perfectly and provides plenty of operating time after charging. The included calibration standards and SMA cables are sturdy and work well. Fortunately I already had an SMA/UHF adaptor to measure my amateur antennas and the readings made sense. The VNA also works well with a nanovna-saver linux application if run with root privileges. Its online manual has the needed information to get started but could be improved with application examples. The NanoVNA_V2 seems to be good value for measuring rf properties and antenna characteristics.

Case isn't the best, everything else is excellent.

Overall great buy.

The quality of the coax cable felt better than expected. The display is small but comfortable to use with the default stylus, also great viewing angles. The acrylic enclosure is poor, some of the holes are smaller so not a great fit. But they do the job of protection in general.

NanoVNA V2 works 100%

Tested a number of antennas using the NanoVNA. Excellent results when scanning over a wide frequency range. Found a number resonance points beyond the expected frequency.
The only request for a change is to make the letters and number a little bigger. I'm no spring chicken so the eyesight has problems reading the display.

I love it!

The shipping was surprisingly fast with detailed tracking and the VNA works great! I've been characterizing a bunch of RF stuff and comparing the results to the datasheets of those components. Everything checks out so far and I feel that I can trust the measurements it makes. I'm even considering buying a second one just in case and especially to support the developer. I'm already looking forward to the NanoVNA V3 :)

Impressive

For NanoVNA V2 Plus4

I can't think of a better ROI for $80 worth of lab gear. I'd be hard pressed to think of anything I've bought in the past 3 years that provided similar value without costing thousands. After unboxing it, I downloaded the Linux software and was tuning an LTE chip antenna in no time flat. Validated S11 measurements against the RF lab's and they were spot on.

I then proceeded to fine tune the antenna for a project that will show up here on tindie at some point and that was eye opening to say the least. Since then, I've used it to validate, tune and even reject different bandpass filters and matching networks as well as entire gain stages. S21 measurements seem accurate.

If you've been thinking about getting a VNA and you don't have a $3k+ budget, this is it!

If you use/design any RF products buy it: This is a true, 4GHz, 2-port VNA.
PC Software is easier to use than the LCD in my view, as this is a tad small.
Finding a LiPo battery that fits inside with 2.54mm JST is not easy. Shame its not a purchase option.

Exactly as desired!

Very affordable and useful to have around. Appreciate the included standards (short, open and 50 ohm load) as I didn't have any of this equipment previously.
