Thank you very much for this great product. No problem soldering the kit or powering it up. It took a little bit of time until I discovered that I have to setup the address 0x10 for it to work with SC114 board, but this is because I usually read the documentation only when something does not work :)))).

My recommendation!

I was on the waiting list for more than a few months before Karl started again to make and sell this fantastic kit. It was worth waiting. The kit was bought for SC126, it's well designed in every aspect, and so easy for assembling. In the package is everything you need, and even more. Even the shipping was fast (2 weeks). Light speed in these times. Everything is just perfect.

Excellent CP/M solution for SC114

This module is a very useful addition to the SC114 Z80 Motherboard I have!
A highspeed serial port and the compact flash "disk drive" in one module is exactly what is needed to add CP/M capability to the SC114 board (and probably many other small RC2014-based systems using either RomWBW or the Small Computer Monitor).
The price is attractive too; this module and the SC114 is less than $70 for a full CP/M system - which probably was way more than $1000 back in the early 80's :-)

The board is quite easy to build. Be patient and a little careful while soldering the connector for the CF adapter - I have only little soldering experience, but it wasn't too hard anyway. Instructions are clear, and the PCB board is well marked up and has a nice layout.
The pre-formatted CF card with CP/M and several tools and utilities makes it really easy to get started. Later, you may want to format and prepare the CF card according to your own personal preferences (make sure to backup the card, so you can easily revert to the original contents).

In case you need any help or run into problems, Karl will definitely support you very well!

Great Combo-Board!

The assembly instructions for this board are straightforward, and point out every detail you need to know in order to assemble the board. While soldering the CF-Card connector may look tricky at first, you don't need to worry: the space between the pins is wide enough and is quite accessible due to their position on the right side of the board.

Delivery was quick and took only a few days (less than a week). I'll recommend this module to anyone who is looking for a CF card module as the additional features (Clock and Serial) really add up to the product.

Amazing little board...perfect for getting into oldskool ASM

For #70 Z180 Micro (CPU + RAM + ROM)

I ordered and received this board a while ago. It did take a bit of time to get here due to the varus afoot, but everything came in one piece. Documentation provided for assembly was extremely clear with crisp pictures of each part and jumper position, the solder mask is great and the silk screen is very clear.

Had some difficulty getting the board running, but Karl was only too happy to help me out. After a lot of back and forth debugging we settled on a solution and the board works perfectly!

I would suggest getting the Compact Flash module if you want to do some serious programming because you need to extract Wordstar or Aztec for meaningful on-device assembly and C compiling.

I am currently looking at other cards to add to this machine to make the ultimate Zilog box.

20 MHz, who needs that whopping speed?

For #22c Z80 CPU Module

I already have a 4 and 7 MHz module. And a homemade slow clock module for anything between 0 and 1000 Hz. But 20 MHz, that's also something I want to experiment with! Building was a breeze thanks to the nicely designed PCB. No need for a manual (but one is supplied anyway).

I stil have some learning and improvement to do: when using it with my Arduino-based Bus Monitor (and even when not using the 20 MHz clock), the OLED screen of my Bus Monitor (https://gitlab.com/z80a/arduino-z80-bus-monitor) went bezerk. As if tries to update it to often. Well, I'll look into it later.

Great deal

I'm not sure if I'm going to use them all (probably I will), but this was such a good deal that I needed to have them. I am already using the CPU module. The PCBs are a bit wider than the standard RC2014 PCBs to accommodate for the extra pins. I needed to update my 3D printed case for it (https://gitlab.com/z80a/rc2014-module-cases), but that was easy to do!

Best addition for SC114

With this module you can expand your SC114 and make it much more usable and be able to use CP/M.
Very nice instructions on Karls site and also good guide for CF formatting and creation.

Works well, very happy.

Works well and easy to build. I am using it with an SC108 and Dual SIO module, and it just works. Not too many components, so quick to build. The creator is very helpful on the google group too.

Full Z180 kit ("Black Adder")

This kit is simply amazing !!!

It has a Compact Flash card for storage, enabling the user to read & write files to & from it.
You can run programs directly from the card with no issue.

The PCB utilizes a backplane, with up to 5x80 way sockets. There is a CPU module, a ROM/RAM module, & the Storage module.
The kit is excellent for beginner (with supervision), to intermediate soldering ability. All components are through hole.
There is excellent documentation for parts checking included with the kit, with excellent documentation online.

Lastly, it is excellent value for money. Mine worked first go & I've been enjoying it's use ever since.

Karl is extremely helpfull, & has extensive knowledge.

I highly recommend this kit.

I bought this to install in Stephen Cousins' "SC126 Z180 SBC / Motherboard Kit" -- also available on Tindie. The assembly was straightforward with clear instructions. My kit came with a number of differently colored LEDs to choose for the indicator which was a nice option. I selected the ROMWBW card image and it works fine on Cousins' motherboard with the address set to 10h. Shipping from Norway to the US was faster than I'd expected. Documentation was good!

Good quality and value

I'd already built one of these CF modules when building Karl's Black Adder kit. So when I needed another one for my SC126, this was an obvious choice. It's simple and quick to build and works flawlessly. Karl is very helpful to deal with, always providing very good service and advice when I've contacted him.

I received two PCBs, one blue and one black, and wasn’t sure which one to use. Turns out they’re the same and you can go with whichever you prefer, same thing for the power LED: blue or red? Decisions, decisions...
