SPI7SEGDISP8.56: Eight digit serial (SPI) seven segment LED

For Serial 8-digit 7-segment LED display (Yellow)

This display works well. The display is bright and easy to read. Programming is straightforward, the only thing to be carefull with is that the SPI interface is 16 bits long, and many micros are 8 bit. So make sure the LOAD pin is separately controlled and stays low for 16 clocks. You cannot use an automatic SS line from an 8 bit port.

East Pulse makes a good HEART RATE MONITOR

For Easy pulse sensor based on photoplethysmography

I have been working on building a HEART RATE MONITOR for some time. The EASY PULSE FINGER CUP did the trick as I needed
a stable sensor. What I did was interface the A0 and D0 outputs of the EASY PULSE BOARD to a PICAXE 20X2 processor to
count pulses or BEATS PER MINUTE and use a 2 Line LCD Display to indicate HEART RATE in BEATS PER MINUTE. I am also
data logging the PICAXE Output to record HEART RATE over a 30 min period as I am doing MEDITATION. Let me know if anyone is interested in this type of experimentation. LEON

Double row 4-digit seven segment (Blue) LED display module w

For Double row 4-digit seven segment LED display-BLUE

This is a nice little seven segment display module driven by the max7219 chip. This module was easy to setup and program. In short order, I was able to interface it with my Arduino Mega SPI interface with two thermocouples. I am able to display a temperature on each row. This board looks good and is well made.

Prompt Delivery...

For PIC12F series microcontrollers project board

Received my order today of the PIC12F Micro controller Development Board. Delivery was very prompt as I live in southern Utah. The kit arrived in excellent condition in a padded envelope with extra packing material inside.

The microcontroller chip is socketed so that other related microcontrollers can be used with the board. The IDE pin connectors are conveniently located on a board edge, and can be built either using vertical pins or the included right-angle pins. All components are thru-hole for easy assembly except for the large SMT regulator chip. The large size of the regulator should present no problem in soldering it to the board.

There was no documentation included. The package should have included something even if just a URL to where documentation exists. I did eventually find the original website where a BOM table was provided. I would like to have seen a schematic diagram available. Evidently the company is keeping that to themselves as I could find no link to it.

Overall I'm happy with the kit. Will save me time developing my end application rather than breadboarding the microcontroller portion myself.

Impressed

For Easy pulse sensor based on photoplethysmography

I purchased this kit after purchasing a Pulsesensor AMPED kit. I'm pleased to say this Easy Pulse kit works much much better. I'm using it in a project with an AVR micro and have found that some statistical filtering is required if you want consistent and accurate readings, however this is the case with all sensors that measure real world events. Overall the quality is excellent. I especially appreciate the fact that the board has mounting holes in each corner. Delivery to New Zealand was reasonably quick.

Not ideal, but not bad.

For Dual output (5.0V/3.3V) breadboard power supply

This is a solidly built little board, but a few of the solder joints on the one I received are a little iffy (cold joints, pads not entirely covered). It works as intended, but I'd suggest two changes to future revisions of the board. First, make the polarity on both outputs match the markings on most common breadboards +/- & +/-, rather than the current +/- & -/+ (see the photos). Second, include an SMT slide switch to cut power, without having to unplug the cables.

While it's not ideal, overall it's not a bad breadboard supply. Two nice features are the added stability that comes from doubling up the headers and the USB mini-B port. While not significantly better, it's no worse than the others I've tried (SparkFun Breadboard Power Supply Stick 5V/3.3V & Adafruit Adjustable breadboard power supply kit - v1.0). Note that it may be cheaper to purchase directly from Elecrow (www.elecrow.com is silk screened onto the bottom of this board).

Nice board for 18-pin PIC16F experiments and development

For Breakout board for PIC16F628A/ PIC16F1847

This board came with a PIC16F1847, but I replaced it with a PIC16F1827 (same part, less FLASH and RAM) for my purposes.

Since I'm using the internal oscillator, I replaced the 20 MHz ceramic resonator (X1) with some pins so I can access RA6 and RA7. On embedded-lab.com/blog/?p=5625, the "microcontroller, oscillator and reset circuit" shows X1 connected to 12 and 13--that's not true. It's connected to 15 and 16 (as is visible in the "top view of PCB" photo there).

Additional tools: I'm using an ICD 3 to debug and a Bus Pirate to test I2C communications. The PIC16F board powered from the Bus Pirate at 3.3 V (since the ICD 3 can't supply power for debugging).

Double row 4-digit seven segment LED display review

For Dual row 4-digit seven segment LED display-YELLOW

Two units were purchased and delivered promptly without any issues.

The dual row displays worked as advertised even if we had to write our own drivers (special application). each display module is now used as part of two of our internal test beds used for production and debugging.

Overall, considering the price and quality, I would rate this product a complete success.

New Version Display

For SPI 4-digit seven segment LED display

I have just integrated the new version 4 digit display into a clock project. The unit worked extremely well and looks fantastice with the full clock format including flashing colon. Very good kit, great quality and worked first time

Excellent!

For Serial 8-digit 7-segment LED display (Green,0.56")

The display area is large, but the footprint is small. Good design. There are few component parts and soldering is easy. I can save the number of pins, thanks to the SPI connection. Thank you.

Superb Kit

For Mini breakout board kit for PIC16F628A/648A/1827/1847 microcontrollers

I would highly recommend this Kit. I was very impressed with the quality of the PCB and have found it reliable in service. I have two configurations, One with the 20MHz resonator and one without for internal Osc. chips.
I would really like to see a 40 Pin version of this board.
Excellent development and prototyping tool.

No Time To Review

For Mini breakout board kit for PIC16F628A/648A/1827/1847 microcontrollers

Tindie is asking me to review this item even though I haven't had time to build it and I find it rude of Tindie.

I haven't seen any instructions for the microcontroller board so I guess I have to build it from the picture.
