Great product

For RGB LED Ring v1.1

This RGB LED Ring is compact and is considered to be combined with I2C Encoder, and it has both color and brightness.
It fits my purpose.
Being in color, going around, being compact, Arduino library
It is relatively easy to operate using.

Other LED rings using WS2812 are mainstream, but they are too large and spaced too far apart.
So I was looking for another product.

However, in the case of operation with Arduino, it is necessary to pay attention to exclusive processing and interrupt processing.
Ingenuity is required to process multiple LED Rings and LED Encoders.

I'm currently working on a library for my use with Teensy 4.0.
I ordered 4 sets, but my goal is to make a MIDI controller with 8 sets in the end.

Nice product for general purpose

For I2CEncoder V2.1 Connect rotary encoder on I2C bus

Honestly this is not my first order (I've tried the old V2 earlier), so no big surprise. I will use this gadet in a DIY ultrasonic humidifier as adjustment knob and I2C splitter for BME280 (humidity measurement). It will be great, if we can order knurled (K) rotary instead of flattered (F) D-axis.

Nice product for general purpose

For I2C Encoder Mini

Mini is more than enough for almost all projects, however I love the v2.1 becuase you can use as I2C splitter as well (and works with RGB rotary for sure). Anyway, the layout of the mini is a little bit smaller, so if you have very limited space it's a good choice.

Lovely gadget

Awesome

For PCB Badge Holder v3

Way better than my old plastic badge holder: stronger, thinner, prettier!

Work like a charm on all doors I used it (I think my badge even work better than before, I do not need to touch the receiver and wait for at least 2s, just passing my badge a few centimetres over the receiver is enough ; maybe a good side effect of PCB tracks?)

It's so good that I ordered another one for me for my second badge, and 2 more for jealous workmate. I received them today.
Delivery was quicker than I thought for standard shipping to another country (maybe because I'm in France, near the Italian border). I passed both of my order on Sunday, packages were sent on Monday, and I received it on the next Monday.

A really smart product idea for I2C based panel controls.

For I2CEncoder V2.1 Connect rotary encoder on I2C bus

I was in the process of developing something similar to this for a project which involves a large number of panel controls. Looking at the specification and the price I immediately halted my project and ordered a dozen of these!

My units are V2.1 which do have some features that I was looking for such as relative / absolute steps and programmable interrupt source.

My original use for these was a simple I2C addressable encoder interface but these offer much more...

The first added bonus is the full programmability of LEDS. These are great for user feedback.

The second bonus is three extra I/O pins which can individually be used as inputs, PWM o/p and 8 bit analogue input. The analogue input feature is a real bonus as I also have a need for reading some 10K ohm panel potentiometers.

The physical footprint is really small and the connector layout lends itself to easy daisy chaining.

And finally, they are ok for 3.3 and 5 volts with a low idle current (<2mA) that will allow me to create a persistent panel even when the rest of the system is powered off by using a single 18650 battery.

As part of a persistence philosophy you can also store values in the on-board addressable EEPROM which has two banks or 128 bytes.

If you are making any form of control panel which features rotary controls with, or without, LED feedback then this is the best solution that I know of.

I am going to order some more soon for sure.

Wonderfull product !

This is really a must have.

i am a newbie with soldering stuff and I Don't have the Equipment, so i had to ask a pro to do it for me.
Maybe the only thing that could be better is to propose an option to solder everything (with an additionnal fee of course).
(I know it's not recommendend for packaging)

Except that, everything works fine, shipping is also good.

I have rewritten the librairy in .net core (c#), it's pretty simple. I will try to propose it in the GitHub once i've finished.

I wanted to spend some time developing and using these “I2CENcoder V2” as designed by DUPPA and available on Tindie.
Conclusion: These are great.

Anyone that has interfaced an encoder to a microprocessor knows that it is somewhat complicated, but worse, a single micro can’t handle may encoders. My goal (which I reached) was to control 24 encoders in 3 rows of eight each with a single microprocessor.

I purchase about 30 units with the RGB encoders and transparent knobs. I had originally ordered black knobs that have a clear circle. I did not like these knobs and Duppa readily replaced them. Thanks. I have found the push switches on each encoder to be very useful. Also, there are two extra i/o pins that could be engaged, but I have yet to use them.

Some soldering is required. Solder pads have to be soldered on each encoder board in order to set the i2c address. The encoders need to be soldered onto the board. I soldered a 2.54 mm male and female header to each board allowing them to be connected. As I wanted a front panel I was concerned about tolerances so I used long pin females giving the connection a bit of “spring” to take up any accumulated differences in the connections. This worked very well. Alternatively, one could directly solder the castellated pins together. I did not think this was a viable solution given the desire for a front panel and the long rows of 8 encoders. As an added benefit, the spring in the connectors let me remove an encoder with only loosening one or two neighboring encoders.

I control the encoders with a Teensy 3.6. Also included in my design is a Nextion 7” color touch-screen display with a resolution of 800 by 480 resolution. Lastly, I added a joystick.

I was a bit concerned (could be unfounded) of having 24 devices on a single i2c bus. The Teensy has three i2c ports so I used a unique port for each of my three rows. Thus, no bus has more than 8 devices on it. I did not try using a single bus.

The colors on my led’s are a bit off with red being too bright. A simple change of a single resistor would fix this problem and I think Duppa is on it.

I have smooth action and I have not experienced any issues with accurate counts.

Duppa ships quickly yet getting from Italy to California took about 2 weeks. Not Duppa’s fault so I give him 5 stars on shipping as well.

A really nice product

For I2CEncoder V2 Connect multiple encoder on I2C bus

This product not only solves a real pain but do it in a very thoughtful way.

I must say I just started using it but right now I get that feel where every use cases I can come up with has been though of and there is an option for it already.

Looking forward to finishing my first project with this product and using it again in other projects.

Other thoughts: Couldn't there be a cooperation between the author of this product and Adafruit? I feel this would fit there product line nicely. Also the pcb is already the right color :)

Excellent, much needed type of encoder

I'm very pleased with these I2CEncoders. I bought four to use in a MIDI controller project to use with an ESP8266. I didn't want lots of wires and didn't have enough GPIOs anyway. These encoder boards make adding additional encoders to a project very simple and flexible. The documentation and Arduino examples are great. The cost is worthwhile for the time and complexity saved if you're using more than a single encoder. Thank you!

Looks Good, Works Well

For I2CEncoder V2 Connect multiple encoder on I2C bus

Works as advertised, using it in a controller project now, tried it out with an OLED screen earlier. Much easier than trying to read encoder pins using your main microcontroller. The board itself looks sharp in matte black.

Considered giving the documentation a 4, as it's a bit difficult to figure out all the functions. On the other hand, Saimon has been very willing to help as I figured it out, and there is a TON of functionality, so seemed fair to leave it as a 5.

Make sure you don't use libraries from V1 somehow, seems like that tripped me up at one point.

Sweet simple Rotary Encoder

A very neat little roatary encoder!
With the I2C connection, it's super easy to read out the position, no more hassle with reading out the different channels and calculate the direction!

Excellent product

I bought two I2C encoders and implemented one with an AVR and the other one with an Arduino Nano. Very easy to implement due to the excellent documentation.
Both works flawless in my applications.
Highly recommended!

Time saver!

For I2C Encoder: connect rotary encoders on i2c bus

Just received the PCBs and started playing with. Shipping was faster than I expected. as a matter of act it took only 3 or 4 days to arrive. It worked fine from the start. Documentation is OK although not complete but Simone responded to my questions within the minute, FANTASTIC support! This little saved me a lot of time and trouble with my current project.
I recommend it!

Top! Very good product, useful to work safely with RS232

For Debug Board USB to RS232 Isolated Serial Converter

I used this product to insulate a serial working a 220VAC always without problems. It is plug and play and worked immediatly, connected it in few seconds to my board on live mains on one side and to PC on the other side without problems! No drivers needed
Really recommend it, the price is low compared to its value!
