no quality control, no support.
For CP2102 Multifunction Serial Module(5256)
I was really looking forward to this as my "go to" serial adapter.
Sadly there appears to be no quality control; when I received it, the primary switch on it seemed to be melted in place. I tried using increasing pressure to move the switch, until the tab broke off. The switch's interior body (plastic) was just melted & frozen in an unusable state.
I offered to solder a new switch on if they'd send me a new one. The response was less than enthusiastic... 8 days later (granted, new years was in the middle) and 2 emails to them, the resolution offered was "$0.50 to be refunded & buy switch locally" and told me they didn't sell the switch so they couldn't send it to me -- if I could buy the switch locally I wouldn't have even asked -- moreover, there's no part # so I can't order and exact replacement online. (The closest I found, with shipping, is more than the original product.)
Update: they offered to send me a new board (or switch, it was unclear) & I offered to help with shipping. They asked me to purchase something else to help with shipping, which I did. (one of two items was received w/o all the parts). Moreover, the package lacked the replacement switch & they called me a liar when I let them know it wasn't in the packaging. After another week of emails, and them not believing me that there was no switch sent; I called it quits on spending time dealing with it & them.
Hopefully some quality control will have been put in place to do a functional check prior to shipping.
It's a shame that no parts are available, then again, it's a cheap Shenzhen board ...
