Must have for Form 2/3 owners plus mini DF Grey resin review
For Universal cartridge for Formlabs Form 2 - old
I bought this cartridge a few months ago and have been using it with almost no issues, the issues I had was shipping related and ProtoART was quick to answer and help resolve my issues with no problem.
Program to setup the resin type on the cartridge was easy to use and instructions were pretty easy to follow along, I didn't need to backtrack.
DF Grey Resin (digital forge):
I used the DF Grey resin (I think it was v2) and while it had some issues I will list below, this along with the cartridge let me use my machine to its fullest. Like it was built for, I was able to leave it alone and go do other things while it printed worry free.
Comparing DF Grey v2 to Formlabs Grey v4:
- Smells is a bit stronger and very noticeable than FL Grey v4
- It's less stickier than Grey v4 when touching a print during transfer to alcohol
- Weird dusty coat sometimes over pieces after alcohol bath and the smell gets worse after drying in the UV chamber (the smell goes away after a bit)
- supports are a bit harder to snap of.
- Contrast of the finished print is amazing, you're able to see a bit more than Grey v4.
- Same level of smoothness and minimal ridges as if you were using Grey v4
- The Material after print is definitely sturdier than Grey v4 (personal experience after dropping a part by accident)
TL;DR:
Definitely buy this cartridge, super easy to setup and if there are any issues I believe protoART will be able to resolve it as quick as he did my issues.
DF Grey Resin is pretty solid and an incredibly reliable purchase for the price but if you have the cash for Formlabs resin, go for it.
